Seminars

LTC knows the importance of having access to good role models and people to aspire to and felt this was very important for our athletes. Role models inspire children to stay motivated, instil good behaviour, influence life decisions, and strive to achieve goals.

Therefore we make sure each year we recruit expert individuals from different fields who are excellent role models to educate and inspire our athletes by using their own stories and wisdom. We strongly recommend parents and guardians to attend the seminars also.

Below is a list of some of the people we have had to deliver a seminar to our athletes so far:

Jack Nowell

England Rugby Player

Jack came through the Cornish Pirates Junior Squad before making the move to Premiership Club Exeter Chiefs. From there Jack has gone from strength to strength becoming a firm favourite in the England National team and even better he has been selected for the British and Irish Lions tours to New Zealand and South Africa.

Jack talked to the KHP athletes about a variety of topics from strategy to achieving peak performance to teamwork and leadership. Jack was really keen to reinforce that his career was down to a lot of resilience and how we all go through setbacks in life whether it be an injury or lack of selection. He emphasised that it was important to come back stronger each time.

Sasha Corbin

Sasha made her England Roses debut in 2007 and was part of the 2014 Commonwealth Games team that finished fourth, losing out to Jamaica for a bronze medal. As well as Mavericks, Corbin has also played for Team Bath and Loughborough Lightning in the VNSL, as well as New Zealand netball team, Northern Mystics, in the ANZ Premiership.

As a mountaineer, Paul has led expeditions to many of the world’s mountain ranges, accruing notable summits in the Himalayas, Americas, European Alps and Scandinavia.
